Where would you expect to find Buffer Lanes?

Buffer lanes are commonly located in areas that experience strong winds, such as high-level bridges, elevated roads, exposed viaducts, and open sections of motorway. Pay attention to the weather forecast, as it may indicate the need to adjust your route.

Where would you expect to find Buffer Lanes

Have you ever noticed an additional lane with stripes separating it from traffic? Those are buffer lanes! Now the question is: where would you expect to find buffer lanes? You’ll typically find buffer lanes in these windy areas:

1. Bridges at a high elevation: Winds can whip over open bridges. When gusts whip around a car buffer lanes provide a safe haven.

2. Open sections of road: In strong winds long exposed highways can be dangerous. High-profile vehicles can find sanctuary in buffer lanes to prevent being blown off course.

Thus, keep in mind that the next time you see stripes next to a road it may be a buffer lane keeping everything safe!
